I'm pretty sure this is just wet acrylic paint.
Keeping in mind that you usually get one good quality tube of watercolor paint for the price of this entire set, you get what you pay for. Right from the tube it's lumpy and thick and takes forever to actually dissolve (????) in the water, and often dries with an odd sandy look to it. Also dries alarmingly fast compared to normal water colors. The best way I can describe what these feel like is that I'm pretty sure it's just acrylic paint in these tubes, and then you add some water to them.
I would honestly say just get a cheap dry pallet and use that, because any benefit of tube watercolor is completely lost with these. If you want a cheap set of paint for a kid, just get acrylic paint, because it's cheaper and you get a lot more of it. If you want cheap watercolor, get a pallet. If you're experienced enough with watercolor pallets to want to try tubes, this is not an upgrade. There is no reason to buy these.

Artsmith Watercolor Paint Set
I'm just getting started in watercolors and wanted an inexpensive set of paints that would still do a decent job. I was pleasantly surprised with the color saturation and ease of use with this set of paints. A good beginner's set at a great price.
